The Globe Spotlight: stylehaüs!

The Globe Showrom is happy to feature stylehaüs, a new LA boutique that we love to work with! Carrying Globe labels Camilla &Marc, Kimberly Taylor, Sam & Lavi and A+RO, stylehaüs serves to provide their customers with the the most current &  fashionable styling tips for any occassion!

Opening in July of 2011, stylehaüs is moderately new. But their notable passion and expertise is reflected with their ever-budding clientele. I recently spoke with Marina Monroe, the Creative Director and owner of stylehaüs, to find out more about her & the boutique!

At only 22 years, Marina moved from NYC to LA to begin her own online clothing boutique. Missing the feeling of working closely with people, she found herself back in the realms of fashion PR & retail. All of these experiences have helped to shape stylehaüs!

How did you get in to fashion? Was it always your first love?

Fashion is in my blood. Ever since I was little, the moment I stepped into any boutique, it felt like home. Shopping, going to fashion shows, people watching from my stoop in NYC to check out everyone’s outfits... it all gave me a rush like no other.

What is it about styling clients that made you want to open this boutique?

I think working with people directly is what fashion is all about. Being able to make people happy and confident in their clothes is what drives me. It is a really special experience for me to work with a client’s aesthetic, as well as push their boundaries a bit and introduce them to new ideas.

Describe your store concept! How is it different from all the other boutiques that offer personal styling in LA?

stylehaüs breaks all the rules of traditional retail and provides an environment that is fun, friendly and all about the fashion. Our personal styling services go beyond selling pieces in our store: we work with our clients' existing wardrobes & consult them about purchases. Being appointment-only enables us to give the proper time and attention to every single one of our clients without any distractions.

There are so many emerging designers out there to choose from! How do you go about choosing a collection for your boutique?

In a collection, we look for quality, fit and aesthetic value. Our first responsibility is to our clients, and we always order pieces with them in mind. We also look at the entire collection to envision each piece and how it will incorporate with others we are ordering, as we like to mix and match designers to create looks for our clients.

The stylehaüs customer seems very interesting! How would you define your clients?

Our clients range from celebrities to stay at home moms, but the one thing they share is a love for fashion. We become their 24/7 style concierge! A stylehaüs client could come in to plan their entire fall wardrobe, try on outfits from a pull we have gathered for them for their birthday party, or just stop by for a glass of wine to chat about fashion!

Fall is quickly approaching! Do you have any trend predictions for the fall season?

The menswear trend is one that I have been seeing a lot and love. Diane Kruger wore a Jason Wu tuxedo outfit to an event recently, with shorts- and she looked so chic and sexy! White button down shirts, neckties, black and white blazers, skinny and wide tuxedo style pants are all really big on the runways I think we will also see pops of bright colors like electric blue and red, as well prints- large stripes, graphic prints. I also love the mod theme that is all over the runways!

Marina shows a lot of passion for her job. With that mindset, we think stylehaüs will blossom into an even bigger service!

California Girls!

We want to take this opportunity to introduce everyone to our West Coast counterparts! Our girls Karen and Tracey run the LA office, and we sat down with them to dish about the West coast style trends.

Q: How does West Coast style differ from East Coast?
A: West Coast style is more casual and laid back in general. Jeans and t-shirts are staples of a California wardrobe and unlike East Coast style, West Coasters tend to need more of an occasion to dress up.

Q: Do you think trends start on the West or East Coast?
A: The boyfriend jean, knit and jersey trends, for example, started in the West but both coasts alternate in terms of starting trends.

Q: Who would you say are big trendsetters these days on the West Coast?
A: Women like Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston always have a consistent and quintessential LA "look", with casual boyfriend jeans and a nice ballet flat. Someone like Rachel Bilson also seems to blend West and East Coast trends effortlessly.
